Today we are delighted to offer for sale a wonderful antique handmade rag doll!
This delightful make-do doll dates to the 1930’s Depression era. Make-do dolls were hand-crafted using materials that were at hand; these precious toys were crafted during a time when many families were struggling to make ends meet.
This piece was no doubt lovingly made by a family member for a special little girl.
This is a large doll, measuring 29″X 12″ Her face is embroidered and her hands are detailed with stitching at her wrist.
Her hair is light white/blond yarn styled into two braided pigtails and tied with red satin ribbon.
She is wearing a pink & red linen  print dress with short cuffed sleeves.
The pleated dress has a full skirt and two snaps in the back. She has a  cotton half slip and bloomers
In
her pocket is a removable linen lace hanky.
The doll’s shoes are made of  red leather and four pearl like buttons. Doll is in very good antique as-found, untouched condition.
The doll’s dress is bright colors due to it being kept in a box in the dark temprature controlled in a non smoking environment  Slip, bloomers & shoes are very good there is a seperation on the front seam of her right foot the leather is c still soft and easily repaired with needle and thread . No rips or holes anywhere else.
This precious doll is a wonderful find and will make great addition to any fine antique doll collection. Fresh to the market!
