Large size, Yvonne Spaggiari, Italian, RAVCA type, antique cloth fisherman doll

Description

This delightful,
18″ tall
, antique stockinette cloth, doll figure of an elderly Italian gentleman fisherman was designed by
Italian artist, Yvonne Wendremaire Spaggiari
in the manner of Bernard Ravca,
France,
circa 1927-35,
with the most realistic and detailed, hand painted
and needle sculpted features and hands with stitched fingers. He has the loveliest, attentive blue eyes
and expression with wrinkled forehead, finely painted eyebrows, closed
lips with highlights, rosy cheeks and molded ears. His thick, blond wavy mohair wig is covered by his provincial, navy blue knit cap with pompom. He wears a charming, fisherman striped, knit shirt with long sleeves, dark blue trousers, red printed cotton, neck scarf  and large wooden clog type shoes. He also carries a woven twig basket under one arm,
his pipe and his original fishing net

He is in excellent clean condition with no tears or holes, no rips or repairs and no odors as he is from a smoke free home (some slight edge wear to the back of his scarf).
