Wi-Fi Camp Pro 2 (v2 with Tube-UNA)- the long awaited second generation long range Wi-Fi
repeater kit from Alfa Network, Inc. It includes the new Alfa R36A USB
router/repeater and Alfa Tube-UNA outdoor Wi-Fi receiver with 9 dBi outdoor Wi-Fi antenna (model AOA-2409-TF).
This
is a special kit shipping in one retail box that features all of the
above equipment designed to pick up a weak Wi-Fi signal and repeat it as
your own personal hotspot inside your RV or building. This is ideal for use on boats, RVs and
campers, or larger properties. Here’s what you get:
Alfa R36A USB router
This is the successor to
the previous model Alfa R36, and it is a special 802.11n router with a
USB port that allows you to share the long range Wi-Fi connection of the
Alfa Tube-U(N) outdoor USB wireless adapter. Now you can extend a weak
Wi-Fi signal to all of your devices such as smartphones, printers, and
tablets. R36A features internal hardware upgrades for better overall
performance and reliability. It also features a completely redesigned
on-page setup interface. This comes with 2 power supplies, a standard AC wall power supply, and a 12v power supply (car/cigarette lighter plug style).
Alfa Tube-UNA outdoor USB Wi-Fi receiver
This
component comes with a 8m (26 feet) USB cable that runs to the USB port
on the R36A. This is the receiving radio that picks up the distant
Wi-Fi signal. It has an N-male antenna connector. It features a 1-watt
(1000mW) high power amplifier and is light-weight and easy to mount (
it is 4.1 ounces and just over 6.5 inches tall
).
Simply use the two included mounting ties to fasten it to almost any
type of infrastructure. It is fully weatherproof and can handle outdoor
temperatures down to freezing. The Tube-UNA is the latest from Alfa with improved chipset for faster throughput/speed.
This does not need a separate power supply and draws all necessary power over USB cable from the Alfa R36A router.
AOA-2409TF outdoor 9 dBi omni antenna
This
antenna fits right into the Tube-U(N) model Wi-Fi receiver and gives
you excellent reception range with a wider scope of vertical axis
coverage as well, useful for pickup up Wi-Fi signals bouncing off
obstacles. It is a light-weight outdoor omni-directional antenna priced
much lower than comparable products from competing brands. It is 1.5
feet tall.
How it works
Use all three of
these components above together to boost and share a Wi-Fi signal.
Simply connect your computer to the R36A via ethernet cable for a
one-time configuration and setup. Connect the AOA-2409TF antenna to the
Tube-UNA receiver, then connect the Tube-UNA to the USB port on the
R36A. Using Wi-Fi scanning software built-into the R36A that you will
see during the setup wizard, you can scan for and connect to available
wireless networks in your area. Once the R36A has connected to a
network, you will be prompted to name and password protect your own new
local Wi-Fi network, offering any device within a few hundred feet the
ability to use the same distant Wi-Fi signal.
Range
There is no specific range that can be computed as range can vary greatly based on environment and environmental factors like obstacles and interference. We recommend using this in an area where other devices can at least get a weak signal to the desired network, such as one bar. If the environment is such that your devices cannot even see the desired network form the place of intended use, the Camp Pro may not work well there. A rough estimate is 500-1000 feet. This is about 1.5 to 3 football fields. If you are in a very open area, it may go further.
